The Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research (IfT) is intensifying its experimental and theoretical research in the fields of cloud physics and the interactions between aerosol and clouds. In this context we are looking for a PhD student.

The position is located at the Leipzig Aerosol and Cloud Interaction Simulator (LACIS) and
limited to three years. The salary level is according to German public service regulation (TV-L 13 O/2). Applicants should have a university degree in physics or meteorology and ideally have a strong background in atmospheric physics, atmospheric thermodynamics or related disciplines.
The main task of the successful candidate will be the planning, the implementation and the
interpretation of the LACIS-based experiments on the ice formation in clouds.

Though the focus of the project is on experimental work, candidate should be willing also to work on theoretical aspects. Knowledge of FORTRAN or/and C programming environments is
required. Basic understanding of the experiment automation principles and acquaintance with the
measurement and automation software (LabView) will be most welcome. Fluent English in written and oral form is mandatory.
