PhD Positions in Magnetohydrodynamics, Wurzburg University, Germany
PhD position in MHD at Wuerzburg University, Germany
A PhD positions is available immediately in the framework of the Graduiertenkolleg ‘Theoretical astro particle physics and particle physics’ (more information at: http://gk1147.physik.uni-wuerzburg.de)
The position is in the Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics group jointly at the Institute of Mathematics and the Institute for Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics of Wurzburg University, Wurzburg, Germany, see:
http://www.astro.uni-wuerzburg.de/fearless.html
The topic of this PhD project will be in the development and implementation of a numerical code for magnetohydrodynamics. This will be applied in the astrophysical context of star formation in a turbulent medium.
Applications are invited from Masters students in Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computational Science and Engineering who are interested in applying novel mathematical ideas to large-scale astrophysical simulations. Candidates with experience/expertise in numerical programming with C, C++ and Fortran-90 are especially encouraged to apply.
The position is for up to three years with a stipend a based on a BAT IIa/2 position.
