Germany: PhD Position on Numerical Analysis/Scientific Computing at University of Ulm
PhD Position on numerical analysis and scientific computing of integral- andpartial differential equations with Prof. Dr. Stefan A. Funken, Institute ofNumerical Analysis, University of Ulm.
The subject of the PhD thesis covers the fields of scientific computing,numerical analysis and engineering. The tasks include the creation of 3Dmodels, the development, analysis and implementation of approximationmethods (FEM, FVM, BEM) for elliptic and parabolic PDEs, and theinterpretation and visualization of the computed results.
Teaching at undergraduate and graduate student levels will be a mandatoryduty.
The applicant must have a degree in mathematics or related disciplines (e.g.computer science or physics), a strong background in applied or numericalanalysis, programming skills and sufficient knowledge of German (workinglanguage).
It is initially limited to two years, with the possibility of an extension.The salary is E13 which is the equivalent to the former BAT IIA/2.
