Germany: PhD in Biomedical Image Analysis at Heidelberg
The research group “Biomedical Computer Vision” (BMCV) at theUniversity of Heidelberg, IPMB, Dept. Bioinformatics & FunctionalGenomics, and the DKFZ Heidelberg, Dept. Theoretical Bioinformatics isdeveloping algorithms and methods for computer-based analysis ofbiological and medical images, in particular, cell microscopy images. The main aim is to derive quantitative information about the shape, motion, as well as the function of cellular and subcellular structures.
Currently, the BMCV group offers a PhD position in Biomedical ImageAnalysis, an interdisciplinary field between biological andcomputational sciences. Main research topics are elastic registrationand motion analysis of 2D and 3D biological images.
The successful candidate must have a Masters (Diploma) degree inComputer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. Weexpect very good mathematical and programming skills (e.g., in C, C++,Java) as well as experience with software development systems in thearea of Computer Vision. Knowledge in Biology is an advantage. A highlevel of self-motivation and the ability to work in a team areessential for this position.
