Fully Funded Doctoral Studentship at the Liverpool Law School

Call for Proposals

Applicationsare invited for a fully funded studentship to undertake doctoralresearch at the Liverpool Law School commencing in Autumn 2005.

Thestudentship is open to applications from new students wishing tocommence full-time doctoral study, and to existing students seekingsupport for the remainder of their doctoral work.

Inthe case of new students, awards will be made for one year in the firstinstance, renewable for a further two years (subject to satisfactoryprogress). The Studentship will provide academic fees at the UK/EU rateand a maintenance grant of £7,000 per annum.

Thesuccessful applicant will be expected to give the equivalent of one dayper week to the Law School by taking tutorials for an agreed coresubject and / or by acting as a research assistant to staff members.

Applicationsare not restricted to any particular subject field or research topic.However, applicants are reminded of the importance of proposing aviable topic for doctoral research, which can actually be supervised byLaw School staff. Academics are generally very willing to discuss ideasbefore a formal proposal is made, and applicants are encouraged toidentify and liaise with potential supervisors in advance.

New students should apply for a PhD place at the Law School in thenormal manner by obtaining an application pack from Ms Clare Kelly (Liverpool Law School, Liverpool L69 7ZS; email clarek@liverpool.ac.uk). The relevant forms should be completed and returned to Ms Kelly by no later than 30th June 2005. Please indicate in your covering letter: a) that you wish to be considered for the studentship; and b) whetheror not you have applied for funding from the AHRB / ESRC. Yourapplication should also contain a more detailed description of yourresearch proposal (approx. 2-3 pages).

It is hoped that applicants will be informed of the final decision during early August 2005.
