The"International Max Planck Research School on Physical Processes in theSolar System and Beyond" at the Max Planck Institute for Solar SystemResearch in Katlenburg-Lindau, and the Universities of Braunschweig andGoettingen, Germany, offers excellent research possibilities forstudents to obtain a PhD degree in a 3-years graduate program.
Theprogram covers the full range of physics inherent in the field of solarsystem science from geophysics and planetary science to solar physcisas well as the underlying fundamental physics. The science program iscomplemented by training in computational physics, space technology andproject management.
High-profile space missions, outstandingprojects for ground-based instruments and data analysis, as well astheoretical and extensive numerical modeling provide a wide range of research possibilities for PhD students.
Applicationsfor the program are open to students from all countries. A prerequisiteis a diploma or a master of science degree in physics or a related field, including a corresponding thesis.
Thenext PhD program will start in January 2006, review of applicationbegins on 1 July 2005. Successful applicants will receive adequate financial support.
