Fellowships for European Doctoral School of Demography
The European Doctoral School of Demography (EDSD)invites applications for school year 2005-6. The EDSD is a new,eleven-month program that will be offered every year, with the goal toprovide first-year doctoral students in demography in Europe with anappropriate basic education.
Students will acquire a solid knowledge base on causes and consequencesof demographic change, population data, statistical and mathematicaldemography, as well as modeling, simulation and forecasting. Theprogram is intended for young researchers at a very early stage intheir career, namely in the first year of their doctoral education.EDSD is under the auspices of the European Association for Population Studies (EAPS).For school years 2005-6 and 2006-7, the School is managed by the International Max Planck Research School of Demography (IMPRSD) and located and operated in the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR)in Rostock, Germany. The EDSD will admit a new cohort of up to 24students every year. The EDSD does not charge fees, and makes availablea number of scholarships to enable students to attend the School'scourse program. Students with an excellent MA degree or its equivalent are eligible to apply for a fellowship to the EDSD program.
