Europe: PhD Positions within the European Early Stage Researcher Training Network MONET
Closing date: 28 February 2006 (first term)
Twelve PhD-student positions are currently available within the European Early Stage Researcher Training Network MONET - Molecular Networks at Phase Boundaries. There are two positions at each of the following institutions:
- Lund University, Sweden
- University of Aarhus, Denmark
- University of Nottingham, United Kingdom
- Fritz-Haber-Institute, Berlin, Germany
- Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, France
- Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain.
Two additional positions at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, will be opened for applications later this year.
The network offers a broad PhD-student education within nanoscience and specialises in the physics and chemistry of surface molecular networks at the boundaries to gas and liquid phases.
The employment comprises:
- a full PhD-student position for the entire period of training until your PhD degree, including all social security and pension benefits foreseen at the location of your main employer (no stipend, but a proper employment from day one!),
- a travel allowance to cover your expenses related to your move,
- yearly allowances for visits home,
- a career exploratory allowance to cover expenses related to future job opportunities,
- the full coverage of travel expenses related to your work.
You may apply independent of where in the whole world you come from. 70% of our trainees will have to come from the countries of the European Union and associated countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Iceland, Israel, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland). This rule concerns the location of residence for the past five years, not your nationality! If you do not come from any of these countries, you may apply as well.
You can apply throughout 2006 until all positions are filled, with the first application deadline on 28 February 2006. The first starting date is 1 April 2006 with later starting dates being possible as well
