Europe: New Erasmus Mundus Scholarship 2006/2007
The Erasmus Mundus programme is a co-operation and mobility programmein the field of higher education which promotes the European Union as acentre of excellence in learning around the world. It supports Europeantop-quality Masters Courses and enhances the visibility andattractiveness of European higher education in third countries. It alsoprovides EU-funded scholarships for third country nationalsparticipating in these Masters Courses, as well as scholarships forEU-nationals studying in third countries
Theprogramme is intended to strengthen European co-operation andinternational links in higher education by supporting high-qualityEuropean Masters Courses, by enabling students and visiting scholarsfrom around the world to engage in postgraduate study at Europeanuniversities, as well as by encouraging the outgoing mobility ofEuropean students and scholars towards third countries.
The Erasmus Mundus programme comprises four concrete actions:
ACTION1 - Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses: they constitute the centralcomponent around which Erasmus Mundus is built. They are high-qualityintegrated courses at masters level offered by a consortium of at leastthree universities in at least three different European countries. Thecourses must be "integrated" to be selected under Erasmus Mundus, whichmeans that they must foresee a study period in at least two of thethree universities and that it must lead to the award of a recogniseddouble, multiple or joint diploma.
ACTION 2 - Erasmus Mundusscholarships: in order to give the Erasmus Mundus Masters Coursesselected under Action 1 a strong external projection, a scholarshipscheme for third-country graduate students and scholars from the wholeworld is linked to them. This scholarship scheme addresses highlyqualified individuals who come to Europe to follow the Erasmus MundusMasters Courses or to work for them.
ACTION 3 - Partnerships:in order to encourage European universities to open themselves up tothe world and to reinforce their world-wide presence, Erasmus MundusMasters Courses selected under Action 1 also have the possibility ofestablishing partnerships with third-country higher educationinstitutions. These partnerships allow for outgoing mobility ofgraduate EU students and scholars involved in the Erasmus MundusMasters Courses.
ACTION 4 - Enhancing attractiveness: ErasmusMundus also supports projects aimed at enhancing the attractiveness ofand the interest in European higher education. It supports activitiesthat improve the profile, the visibility and the accessibility ofEuropean higher education as well as issues crucial to theinternationalisatio n of higher education, such as the mutualrecognition of qualifications with third countries.
The program offers more than 60 joint master program between coorperative university among Europe.
This is the list of the master program offered for the 2006/2007 selection :
