Denmark: PhD Stipend in Computer Science and Engineering


The PhD stipend is available within the general study programme gComputer Science and Engineeringh.

The stipend is placed within the Computer Science research unit Database and Programming Technologies. It is required that the applicant is able to contribute to the research project that provides the funding: gIntelligent Sound,h see www.intelligentsound.org. The Intelligent Sound project is a multidisciplinary project that aims to build technologies for intelligent search and retrieval in dynamic sound databases. The project aims to develop foundations for the next generation of intelligent sound services based on competencies within signal processing, database management, and machine learning.

The applicant must have a solid background in computer science, corresponding to a M.S. or equivalent, with excellent results. The applicant should have a strong background in databases, algorithms, and data structures. Good communication skills, oral as well as written, are essential.

The 750 working hours of teaching included in a PhD stipend will be primarily within the M.S. and M.Eng. programmes in Computer Science and Informatics, within related B.S. programmes, or within other programmes.

Qualification requirements:
PhD stipends are allocated to individuals who hold a Master’s degree.PhD stipends normally have a duration of 3 years and it is a prerequisite for allocation of the stipend that enrolment as a PhD student at the Doctoral School of the Faculty of Engineering and Science takes place with reference to completion of a research education according to the regulations of the Ministerial Order No. 114 of 8. March 2002 about the PhD degree. According to the Ministerial Order the progress of the PhD student shall be assessed every six months. It is a prerequisite for continuation of payment that the previous progress is approved at the time of the evaluation.

The qualifications of the applicant will be assessed by an assessment committee. On the basis of the recommendation of the assessment committee the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Science will make a decision for allocating the stipend.

Appointment and salary acc. to the Circular of Ministry of Finance of May 4, 2000 about the Agreement for Publicly Employed University Graduates and circular of April 4, 2003 about minutes for an Agreement for Publicly Employed University Graduates (AC) about PhD stipends holders.
