Denmark: PhD Scholarship in Water Resources
Applications are invited for a PhD scholarship within the subject area:"Integrating remote sensing and hydrological modeling for groundwater resources assessment and sustainable use in the North China Plains"
Applicants are requested to submitan application that includes (1) a short description of theirqualifications for this specific research project; (2) a curriculumvita that provides relevant academic, employment and personal details;(3) authorized documentations of university degrees; (4) a list ofreference persons; and (5) evidence of English language competence.
Please note that filling of an application form is not requested.
Applicantsshould hold a MA degree in a discipline of relevance for the researchproject. The scholarship is open to both Danish and internationalapplicants. As the research involves communication with Chinesepopulation and authorities the successful candidate should possessappropriate language skills.
Acommittee appointed by the board of the Research School, withrepresentation from IWMI, will evaluate the applications and selectedapplicants will be invited for an interview. The final selection of thesuccessful candidates will be made by the board upon recommendation bythe committee. The successful candidate is requested to apply forenrolment as a PhD student at the University of Copenhagen.
Fundingfor the PhD study comes from the International Research School of WaterResources (Fiva); Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen; and theInternational Water Management Institute (IWMI), Sri Lanka. Thecandidate will be employed 2/3 of the time at the University ofCopenhagen and 1/3 of the time at IWMI and/or a Chinese institution.Remuneration will follow standard rules applicable at theseinstitutions.
The PhD studies are expected to start no later than early 2007.
