Research School for Animal Production and Health, (RAPH) at KVL, wishesto appoint a PhD fellow in Animal Production and Health for 3 years,from January 1st 2006, or shortly thereafter.

Successful applicants will enrol at the Royal Veterinary andAgricultural University PhD program under the auspices of RAPH,(www.raph.dk). RAPH administers a special study programme for PhDfellows with research projects within animal production and health.

Job description
With reference to the supervisors, the work of the PhD fellow willconsist mainly of duties in connection with research and developmentwithin the field of:

Swine Diseases.
The applicants can choose between the two titles;
A. "Studies of the pathogenesis of avian influenza infection in pigs" or
B. "Development of new methods to characterize the pathogenesis of avian influenza infection in pigs"

The appointee should have interests within more of the following areas:
• Virology
• Infection dynamics
• Epidemiology
• Diagnostics (PCR, sequencing and micro array and serological testing)

The PhD fellowship comprises a joint research initiative funded bythe Danish Research Agency, the Royal Veterinary and AgriculturalUniversity (KVL), the Danish Institute of Food and Veterinary Reserch(DFVF) and the Danish Bacon and Meat Council (DBMC).

Qualification requirements
In connection with the appointment to the post special importancewill be attached to the applicant having the professional and personalqualifications stated below:
• Passed Master's degree in relation to the above subject area(s)
The PhD fellow is also required to have research potential, to be enterprising and to possess good interpersonal skills.

Terms of employment
The post will be filled according to the Agreement between theDanish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of ProfessionalAssociations. The post is covered by the Protocol on Job Structure.

The position as PhD fellow requires the applicant to be approvedfor admission to the PhD programme at KVL when accepted for the post.

Appendix 2: material required for expert assessment.

In addition to the material the applicant wishes to be included inthe assessment, the Assessment Committee may include further materialin their assessment of the applicant. In such circumstances, it is theresponsibility of the applicant, on request, to send the material tothe Committee.

Following processing of the application, any application material sent will be destroyed.
Receipt of the application will not be acknowledged, but theapplicant will be kept continuously informed of the progress of theapplication.

The applicant will be assessed according to the Ministry ofResearch and Information Technology Executive Order no. 170 of 17.March 2005.
