CAM (Copenhagen): Graduate ScholarshipTheCentre for Applied Microeconometrics (CAM) at the University ofCopenhagen seeks a PhD scholar to start October 1st 2005. CAM is a partof the Institute of Economics at the University of Copenhagen. Thisperson will work within and be funded by the EU Research and TrainingNetwork (RTN) "Microdata Methods and Practice". The other organisationsinvolved in the Network are CEMMAP (London), CEMFI (Madrid),CNRS-EUREQua (Paris), Tinbergen Institute (Rotterdam and Amsterdam) andIFAU (Uppsala). ResearchMuch of the research to beconducted by the Network falls under the following substantive themes:Consumer behaviour and economic welfare; Policy and programmeevaluation methods; The empirical analysis of games and auctions;Methods for longitudinal/panel data analysis; Labour markets; andHealth. These six themes, and the Network's general interest inmethodological development, will serve as focal points for training,research collaboration and interaction between partners in the Networkand affiliated nodes. TrainingThe Network has anextensive training programme which includes doctoral programme courses,short courses, master-classes, workshops, international conferences andseminars and network meetings. The PhD student will be able to choosefrom the wide variety of training offered by the Network partners. Allinstruction will be in English. To beconsidered for this post, the candidate needs to have obtained a gooddegree in economics or other (social) science. The degree must have asubstantial quantitative component. Eligible candidates arenationals from a European Union Member or Associated States (notDenmark) or non-EU nationals if they have been residents in the EU (notDenmark) for more than 4 out of the last 5 years. Candidates should nothave been residents in Denmark for more then 12 months out of the last36 months immediately prior to the start date. Danish nationals areeligible if they have been residents outside the EU for more than 4 outof the last 5 years. The Network can appoint non-EU nationals that havenot been resident in the EU for more than 4 out of the last 5 years. Thesuccessful candidate will register as a full-time PhD student at thePhD programme in Economics at the Institute of Economics, University ofCopenhagen. The purpose of the PhD programme is to prepare studentsboth for careers in economic research and teaching and to train highlyqualified graduates to work both within the public and private sector.The study programme ensures that the students meet high internationalstandards within the following three main areas: a general knowledge ofeconomic theory and empirical methods, a specialized knowledge withinthe field of the PhD thesis, and a research achievement in the form ofthe PhD thesis. The annual salary as aPhD-student is within the range DDK 260,000-273,000 (Euro34,900-36,600). The salary level is exclusive of pension contributions.Furthermore, a monthly mobility allowance of Euro 645 for singles andEuro 1,032 for researchers with a partner and/or children will beprovided. Both basic allowance and mobility allowance are subject toDanish taxes and national insurance.
