Biostatistician, MSc or PhD (80% to 100%)
Theapplicant should have a master degree (MSc) with at least 3 years ofexperience or a Ph.D. degree in Statistics or Mathematical Scienceswith pronounced Applied Statistics. Professional experience and verygood skills in SAS, Splus and/or Stata are crucial for this position.You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills andability to explain complicated statistical issues to non-statisticians.The applicant should have an interest in consulting for clinicians atour hospital. He or she should be interested to engage for limited timeperiods in teaching basic and advanced biostatistics within theinterfaculty PhD program for epidemiology at the University of Basel.The candidate must be fluent in English. Fluency in German is not amust, but applicants should have some understanding of German andshould be motivated to improve their German language skills.
Thepurpose of this position is to ensure the statistical input to planningand conducting of clinical trials for our unit, the statisticalanalysis of data from large cohort studies and to advise clinicians atour hospital in methodological and statistical issues. The mainresponsibilities are:
Statistical analysis and interpretation of data from cohort studies and clinical trials (mainly phase III and IV)
Provide statistical input to protocol developments of clinical trials and observational clinical studies at our unit
Input to biostatistics and data management processes
Consulting clinicians at the university hospital in statistics and methodology

- Project leaders from hospital based projects
- Liaison with biostatisticians from other departments of the university and the Swiss HIV Cohort Study
