BFWG Academic Awards and Scholarships for Women for Post Graduate Research

Introduction

The British Federation of Women Graduates has limited funds tomake awards to women graduates undertaking postgraduate researchin Great Britain (i.e. all of the United Kingdom except NorthernIreland). This webpage explains the arrangements for awards andscholarships made by the Academic Awards Committee of the BFWGon the basis of a criterion of academic excellence. These awardsare made without reference to financial need.

BFWG's Fellowships and Scholarships are a key part of their commitmentto women. Inaugurated in 1982 the BFWG Scholarship Fund has beenestablished through the generosity of charitable gifts and bequestsas well as fund-raising by members of BFWG. Academic Awards are an important way in which the British Federation of Women Graduates is linked to the International Federation of University Women and sister national federations in countries such as the United States, Australia and Japan.

Follow this link to findout about the awards made by these Federations. You can in manycases apply directly to these Federations, but you can alsoapply via the Academic Awards Committee and seek a recommendation.

The Academic Awards Committee encourages women who wish to apply for Academic Awards to join the British Federation of Women Graduates. All graduates are eligible for BFWG or IFUW affiliated membership.
