Belgium: PhD Researcher in Text Mining, University of Antwerp
We are looking for an enthusiastic researcher with an MA degree in (computational) linguistics, computer science or a related area, with an interest in computational linguistics and text mining.
The junior researcher will join the CNTS computational linguistics research group (University of Antwerp) and work in close cooperation with researchers from the department of Molecular Genetics and ADReM (data mining), also located at the University of Antwerp.
Your task will be to develop innovative text mining techniques and apply them in the biomedical domain.
The position is for four years, fulltime, and should result in a PhD in the area of computational linguistics.
Profile
- You have an MA in Computational Linguistics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science or a related area.
- You have an interest in computational linguistics and text mining, especially statistical or machine learning approaches.
- You have excellent programming skills and a good command of spoken and written English.

Terms of employment
Selected candidates starts with a full-time contract for one year, concluded by an evaluation. Upon a positive outcome of the first-year evaluation, the candidate will be offered an employment contract for the remaining three years.
The postdocs will be ranked in the Belgian university job ranking system as a “doctor-assistant” with a starting salary of minimally EUR 3392 gross per month (or higher depending on number of years of experience).
The PhD will be ranked according to the Dehousse PhD bursary system with a salary between 1270 and 1590 net per month depending on experience.
