In the MaSe-team (Matrices having Structure) of the Department of ComputerScience, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, there are openings for 2 PhDstudents working on projects in Numerical Linear Algebra, more preciselystructured matrices, e.g., rank structured matrices, low displacement rankmatrices, etc., and their applications.

The students will work in the MaSe-team (Matrices having Structure) ofresearchers led by Prof. Marc Van Barel. The incentive in these projects isto develop novel algorithms and the corresponding theory to perform matrixcomputations with structured matrices.

Candidates: We are looking for candidates having an M.Sc. degree and a strongbackground in (applied) mathematics and/or numerical analysis. A goodknowledge of the English language is required. Project term and salary: Enrolment and salary are according to the generalrules outlined by Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. Enrolment will start as soonas possible. The Ph.D. student will be appointed for a period of four times 1year. After the first year an evaluation will take place.
