Australia: Wollongong International Coursework Scholarships (WICS)


The University is pleased to announce a new scholarship scheme forinternational students through which over 60 scholarships are availablefor students commencing a coursework degree in 2006. Coursework degreesin this scheme include variously Bachelor degrees and Masters byCoursework degrees and in some cases, academic programs offered throughWollongong University College. The scholarships are allocated tostudents across a range of countries, typically to students fromparticular overseas institutions or enrolling in specific courses atUOW.

Each scholarship covers the tuition feefor one session of study in the specified UOW course. The scholarshipis payable in the second session of enrolment in the specified UOWcourse, subject to successful completion of the first session with anaverage mark of at least 65%.

You may applyonly for a specific scholarship as identified in the ScholarshipDetails available for each country shown on this website.

The closing date for each scholarship varies and is also included in the Scholarship Detailsfor each country. All students will be advised of the outcome of theirscholarship application before enrolling in their course at UOW.

Scholarship Application Procedures

The following procedures apply to all WICS scholarships. You must, however, read the Scholarship Detailsprovided for each scholarship in your country as this containsinformation relevant to the application and selection procedures,including your eligibility to apply, closing dates and other particularfeatures of the scholarships available in 2006.

  1. Scholarships are restricted to students enrolling in a specified UOWcourse and/or to students from particular overseas institutions asdetermined for each scholarship. Eligibility to apply for eachscholarship is outlined in the Scholarship Details for your country.
  2. Before applying for a scholarship, you must apply for admissionto the relevant course. Applicants must have an offer of admission tothe relevant course commencing in 2006 in order to be considered for ascholarship.
  3. To apply for a scholarship, complete the Wollongong International Coursework Scholarships (WICS) Application Form.Make sure you include the correct Scholarship Code as shown in therelevant Scholarship Details. If you do not include the correct code,your application may not be considered.
  4. Submit the WICS application form by the closing date set for thespecific scholarship you are applying for. Late applications will notbe considered.
  5. The main selectioncriterion in determining scholarship recipients will be academic meritin previous studies. Other factors may, however, be taken into account,including additional information provided with the applications for ascholarship and for admission. Where scholarships are available tostudents from particular overseas institutions, the University mayidentify additional selection criteria or procedures in consultationwith the institution concerned.
  6. Everyattempt will be made to advise all applicants of the outcome of theirscholarship application within four weeks of the closing date for eachscholarship. Successful applicants will be advised of the fullconditions for acceptance of the relevant scholarship at that time.
  7. The University reserves the right not to award a scholarship if thereare no applicants of sufficient merit as determined in each case, or toamend the availability of scholarships and/or the information providedin the Scholarship Details at any time.
