In2006, this prestigious award will be offered to students who arecitizens of the United States of America, Canada, Chile, the CzechRepublic, Denmark, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Australia who arewanting to pursue a doctoral or masters degree by research.

• It provides course fees and a generous living allowance of around$A19,000 per year for up to three years. Some assistance with travel toTasmania is also included.

In making a determination for the 2006 Thomas A Crawford MemorialTasmania Scholarship, the Selection Committee set up under theUniversity's Rules for the award will apply the following criteria:

• Evidence of academic excellence, based on the student's record and referees' reports.
• The suitability of the proposed research program and the capacity of the University staff to supervise effectively.
