The mechanisms of animal navigation are internationally a hot researchtopic, not only in biology, but also in robotics. This summer schoolaims to introduce students from Australia and New Zealand to afascinating and rapidly developing multi-disciplinary research field.We plan to have daily sessions of lectures, seminars and practicaldemonstrations, in a discussion-based, round-table environment, on thefollowing topics:

Day 2: Large-scale Navigation: Magnetic Navigation and Tracking the Global Movements of Animals
Day 3: Honeybee Navigation
Day 4: Neurobiology of Optic Flow Processing
Day 5: Robot Navigation: Engineering Solutions vs Biological Inspiration.
