USA: Visiting Scientist Program in in The Areas of Atomic and Molecular Physics
The SAO has a Visiting Scientist Program to expand the scholarlyexchange of scientific information in the areas of atomic and molecularphysics; infrared, optical, radio, and X-ray astronomy; planetarysciences; geophysics; solar and stellar physics; and theoreticalastrophysics. This program annually attracts many international andnational visitors. They come for a well-defined scientific purpose,which may be to collaborate with a specific individual, to access uniquedata, or to use specialized facilities. Visits vary from a few days toseveral weeks or months, and in some cases up to a year. Stipend supportvaries with the length of the visit and the amount of support beingprovided by the visitor’s home institution, or by a fellowship such as aGuggenheim, NATO, etc.
