USA: Research positions in Computation at the University of Pennsylvania, PhD/PostDocs
Two graduate and two postdoctoral positions are available. The overallgoal of the project is to create a data-driven, high performancecomputational framework for inverse problems for nonlinear elliptic,convection-diffusion, and electromagnetic scattering problems. Theresearch focus will be on the development and implementation ofmultigrid solvers, optimizers, and PDE simulators that enable therapid solution of multiple inverse problems. Applications are relatedto computer vision, medical imaging and computer assisted surgery, anddata assimilation for real-time identification of hazardous eventsfrom sensor measurements.
Students will have excellent collaborative opportunities with amulti-institutional and multi-disciplinary group of researchers fromcomputational and applied mathematics, geophysics, computer science, and radiology. The postdoctoral positions are open for an initialduration of 12 months, starting immediately, and will be renewable.
Postdoctoral candidates should have a strong background in computationaland applied mathematics—in particular partial differentialequations. Experience in parallel and scientific computing andprogramming expertise in C++ are necessary.
