USA: Postdoctoral Scholar in Semiconductor Nanostructures, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)
The department of Electrical Engineering at UCLA has a Postdoctoral Scholar position available in the Terahertz Devices and Intersubband Nanostructures Laboratory for research on low-dimensional semiconductor nanostructures for optoelectronic and nanophotonic applications. This project will involve the study of engineered one- and zero-dimensional devices based on semiconductor heterostructures.
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related physical sciences. Relevant experience includes: fabrication or characterization of semiconductor nanowires, quantum dots, or other nanostructures, quantum cascade lasers, intersubband/level transport and modeling, characterization of nanostructures with optical spectroscopy or scanning probe techniques, micro and nanofabrication, terahertz or other ultrafast spectroscopy.
UCLA offers many opportunities for collaborative research, both inside the EE department, and across disciplines. The department offers world-class fabrication facilities in the UCLA Nanolab and UCLA is home to the interdisciplinary California NanoSystems Institute, a newly opened center focusing on the convergence of nanotechnology (-fluidics, -photonics, -mechanics, -electronics) and biotechnology.
