USA: Postdoctoral Research Position in Computational Plasma Physics, Sandia National Laboratories
The Computational Science R&D Group (http://www.cs.sandia.gov) atSandia National Laboratories is seeking a highly motivated andtalented researcher in computational plasma physics and/ormagneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) modeling to apply for a postdoctoralresearch position at Albuquerque, New Mexico. While all applicantswill be considered, preference will be given to those whose researchis directly or indirectly related to the numerical analysis andevaluation of discretization and solution methods for these systems.Possible applications include: extended MHD Simulations ofsystem-scale fast magnetic reconnection, extended MHD simulations ofhydro-magnetic Raleigh-Taylor instabilities in support of Z-pinchmodeling, and plasma transport/reaction simulation of semiconductormaterials processing.
Applicants must have (or will soon receive) a Ph.D. in physics,astrophysics, mathematics, or a related engineering or sciencediscipline. Applicants should also have experience in computationalscience and/or numerical analysis. Interest in large-scale parallelcomputing/scientific simulation software development, and the provenability to work in a collaborative research environment is alsorequired.
