Post-doctoral Research Opportunity

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Houston is seeking to fill a post-doctoral researcher position with specialization in photovoltaics. High-caliber candidates are sought for conducting original research in advanced materials synthesis, characterization, testing, and modeling, particularly of thin film photovoltaics. Specifically, the position is for a lead researcher to manage a program to develop high-efficiency, near-single-crystalline thin film photovoltaics on polycrystalline substrates based on novel technologies and state-of-the-art equipment in the Materials Engineering laboratory of Prof. Venkat Selvamanickam. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in an Engineering Discipline, Physics or Chemistry with a research specialization in Photovoltaics, and in thin film deposition. Experience in setting up facilities for processing, characterization and testing of photovoltaic materials is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition and/or hot wire chemical vapor deposition of silicon, metal organic vapor phase epitaxy of thin III-V materials, liquid phase epitaxy and those who have demonstrated innovative techniques for tailoring materials to achieve key performance metrics. Candidates with relevant work experience beyond their Ph.D. will be considered for a Research Professorship position.
