USA: Postdoctoral Position in Scientific Computing at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
The Scientific Computing Group in the Computational Research Division atLawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow to work on the development of scientific computingalgorithms and their application to a variety of application areas ofinterest to US Department of Energy and LBNL, such as structural biologyand nuclear physics. The research activities will include the analysisof the performance profile and algorithmic complexity of existingcomputational codes; the improvement of the efficiency and reliabilityof existing codes; and the development of novel algorithms on petascalehigh performance computers. The research activities will require thedevelopment of techniques in discrete and combinatorial mathematics, dimension reduction, and optimization.
The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in Mathematics or Computer Science within the last 3 years, with a strong background in discrete mathematics and some knowledge of mathematical physics and numericalanalysis. Experience in programming, parallel computing, and MPI is highly desirable.
