Postdoctoral position in Molecular Cardiology in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego is available.
The laboratory’s research interests are on understanding the molecular basis of heart disease by utilizing genetically engineered mouse models, state-of-the-art miniaturized physiological technology and a range of molecular and cell biological techniques. We are also in the midst of designing and testing strategies for rescuing cardiac disease using gene therapy approaches.
Minimum qualifications are PhD and/or MD with strong expertise in molecular and cell biology, cardiac physiology and/or mouse genetics. Prospective candidates should be highly motivated individuals with excellent communication/ interpersonal skills, and have the ability to work independently. Recent PhD graduates are preferred.
The successful applicant will gain experience in (i) implementing a multi-disciplinary approach towards the study of cardiovascular disease, (ii) developing and implementing cutting edge techniques in molecular biology, cellular biology, and physiology as well as (iii) communicating their work in a short period of time, since projects are in the latter stages of publication.
Competitive salary will be based on qualifications and appointment will be for 1 year with possibility of renewal on a yearly basis for up to 5 years.
