Postdoctoral Fellow: Scientific Problem Solving Environments

The Scientific Computing and Imaging (SCI)Institute at the University of Utah invites applications for apostdoctoral researcher in the area of scientific problem solvingenvironments. This project is primarily supported by a collaborativeNIH biomedical computing grant. The primary responsibilities of thisposition include porting third party software to the SCI Institute'sSCIRun problem solving environment and performing research inscientific computing software architecture and environments. Thisposition will work with SCI Institute researchers and externalcollaborators to integrate scientific computing and visualizationsoftware with SCIRun and apply it to important real-world science andengineering problems.

The SCI Institute is seeking a highly talented and committed individualwith a demonstrated ability to work well in a multi-disciplinaryresearch environment. The successful candidate will work towardfurthering the institute's world-class research and softwaredevelopment in problem solving environments.

Position Requirements:
* Ph.D. in computer science or closely related field
* Expert knowledge in scientific problem solving environments
with an emphasis in interactive scientific computing and scientific
visualization.
* Advanced skills in C++, and scripting languages.
* Background in biomedical computing and knowledge of OpenGL is
desirable.

Non-Technical Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills are mandatory. Awillingness to participate in a highly diverse, multi-disciplinaryenvironment is also essential.
