POSTDOCS AT MINNESOTA IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF QUASICONTINUUM METHODS

We are seeking outstanding postdocs to work at the University of Minnesotawith a team led by Richard James, Mitchell Luskin, and Ellad Tadmor on thedevelopment of a state-of-the-art multiscale method based on hybrid ab initioand quasicontinuum techniques (http://www.qcmethod.com/).There are opportunities for postdocs to work on the theoretical developmentand mathematical analysis of the quasicontinuum method, algorithm and codedevelopment, and physics applications related to the design of new advancedmaterials.

We welcome the application of candidates with expertise in anymathematical, scientific, or engineering discipline who have a strongcommitment to research on multiscale methods for the design of novelmaterials. Familiarity with multiscale techniques is an advantage, butnot a prerequisite for application.

Our project team is working closely with collaborators at the PacificNorthwest National Laboratory and the University of California, San Diego.The research is supported by the Department of Energy’s Office of Science.
