Postdoc Position in BioMedical Math, University of Maryland, USA

The Center for Scientific Computation and Mathematical Modeling (CSCAMM) at the University of Maryland, College Park, invites applications for one or more post-doctoral Research Associate positions, starting September 1, 2009. The primary goal of the Center is to foster research activity that highlights scientific computation as a complementary avenue to theory and experiment. Successful applicants are expected to have a strong component of their research devoted to developing and studying mathematical models for biomedical problems. The various projects involve opportunities to collaborate with experimentalists and with medical doctors on contemporary problems in cancer, immunology, and cell motility. The preferred candidates should be highly motivated and independent. He/she should hold a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics (or in a related discipline) and have experience in developing, analyzing, and simulating mathematical models for biomedical problems. The positions will be supervised by Prof. Doron Levy.

Appointments are for two years subject to an annual performance review. The incumbent is expected to be actively involved with the educational and research activities at CSCAMM and at the department of Mathematics. Annual salary is $50,000 with an additional $2,000/yr for support of the incumbent’s research. Qualified applicants must file their application electronically at the CSCAMM website:
