Fixed Term to 30 September 2009

BIONET is a ‘Coordination Action’ funded under the Sixth FrameworkProgramme to research the ethical governance of biological andbiomedical research in China and to run workshops and conferences. Itincludes 21 partners, including 6 Chinese institutions, and nineEuropean countries. BIOS at LSE is the lead partner. You will undertakeresearch, data analysis, writing and publication within the frameworkof BIONET, assist with project organization and management, and developand undertake individual research relevant to the aims and objectivesof BIONET.

You should have a good first degree, a doctorate in a relevant fieldin the social sciences, and experience in undertaking and managingresearch projects, report writing and publication. An interest in theethics of biomedical research and clinical practice is essential, as isan interest in China, although previous knowledge or experience ofresearch in China is not essential. Chinese language skills are notessential.

You will work in one of the UKs leading interdisciplinary researchcentres for the study of the life sciences and society, in one of theworld’s finest social science institutions, and will be expected toparticipate fully in the life of the Centre and of the School
