UK: Research Fellowship in Applied Mathematics/Theoretical Physics
This position is intended to consolidate links between the Department of Applied Mathematics and the Atomic, Molecular and Materials Engineering Research Centre. We are seeking a scientist who can support the research activities of the Department in Theoretical Physics, in one or more of the following topics: electronic and magnetic properties of multilayers and surfaces with applications in nanotechnology; Investigation of the surface structure of quasicrystals, which are aperiodically ordered solids, and modeling the formation and properties of induced aperiodic structures that have been shown to exist in adsorbate layers on quasicrystal surfaces; Roughening of vicinal surfaces, The dynamics of high harmonic generation via ionisation of atoms by intense laser-generated fields; Interaction of aerosols with ultrasound and turbulent fluid motion; Construction and simulation of models of self-replicating machines
