£20,044 - £30,002 depending on background and experience

The European Policies Research Centre wishes to appoint a Research Fellow/Research Assistant to undertake research on regional policy in the Nordic/Scandinavian (and possibly Baltic) countries as part of two major research programmes under way in the Centre - one, a comparative study of regional policy in Europe and the other, a comparative assessment of the operation of EU Cohesion policy. Under these programmes, the main responsibility of the appointee will be to monitor and analyse developments in EU and national regional policy in various EU countries and particularly in Sweden, Norway and Finland. Involvement in other research programmes within the Centre (in particular, regional restructuring and regional policy in Central and Eastern Europe and EU Competition policy) would also be possible depending on the interests and expertise of the appointee.

The post would potentially suit a post-doctoral researcher in a relevant discipline or an applicant with a first degree and subsequent work experience on regional development. Applicants will need to be completely fluent in English and one or more Nordic/Scandinavian languages.

The post is for two years in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal thereafter.
