RESEARCH FELLOW (HALF TIME) -
DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTING SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS

Two research fellows are req uired to work on the SHEFC-funded projectMATCH (Mobilising Advanced Technologies for Care at Home). Thisfour-year project is collaborative with the Universities of Dundee,Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as with eleven external partners.

The computing science research fellow will develop an architecture andservices for home care networks based on OSGi (Open Services Gatewayinitiative). Applicants will have a PhD in computer science orcommunications software, or be shortly about to complete such a PhD.Applicants will have knowledge and experience of home networks.

The healthcare research fellow will focus on care aspects, providingsupport to all partners on the appropriate use of technologies for careat home. Applicants will have a PhD in social work, healthcare ornursing, or be shortly about to complete such a PhD. Applicants willhave good communication and inter-personal skills, and the ability towork with a large project team.

Appointments will be made on the RA1A scale, up to point 9 depending onexperience: a maximum of £24,820 p.a. The computing science researchfellow will be appointed full-time, for two years in the first instancebut with the expectation of a further two years. The healthcareresearch fellow will be appointed half-time for two years, the salarybeing pro-rated. The successful candidates will be expected to take upthe position between 1st November 2005 and 31st December 2005.
