Job description,br>The Behavioural and Brain Sciences Unit seeks to appoint a full-time post-doctoral research fellow to support the Unit’s research programmes on the familial origins of autistic spectrum disorders. The main focus of this position is to work with a team on the genetics of social-cognition deficits in the families of autistic or Asperger syndrome children. The post holder will assist with the gathering of data by interview, observation and psychometric testing, from families with an autistic child. Experience of structured assessments of autistic symptoms (e.g. ADI-R, ADOS) is desirable, but not essential.

A first degree in psychology, neuroscience or a related discipline will be suitable for this post, with experience in computer science desirable. A PhD in a related discipline is essential. Some knowledge of basic computer programming and web-design (e.g., HTML, XML, and JavaScript) is essential. A good command of SPSS is essential; experience in developing and implementing MySQL (or similar) relational database architecture preferable.

Salary will be on the RA1A scale (£20,044 - £23,182 per annum), depending on skills and experience. London Weighting of £2,400 per annum is payable in addition. The post is funded for eighteen months in the first instance and is likely to be renewed, depending on the successful completion of the first phase of the investigation.
