Job description
The candidate will play an active role in the research program thataims to fine-map genes involved in meat quality traits in pigs. Theobjective of your activity is to narrow down the chromosomallocation of the genes affecting quality traits and to developefficient molecular tool for screening the population.

Requirements
You have PhD degree and preferably postdoctoral experience outsideThe Netherlands in the field of molecular genetics. You must havegood experiences with molecular as well as analytical tools for finemapping. You view this position as an opportunity to furtherstimulate your development as a scientist. Additional conditions of employment:
The position is part of the research program "Detection andutilisation of (non-)Mendelian genes in commercial pig populations".This program which started in 2002 is funded by TechnologyFoundation STW and supported by two breeding organisations (IPG andNutreco). The aim of this research program is to develop andvalidate methods for the detection and utilisation of quantitativetrait loci (QTL) in commercial (i.e. segregating) pig populations.

You will be working at the Animal Breeding and Genetics group. Thegroup consists of 8 scientific staff, 7 technical assistants, 20 PhDstudents and 6 post docs. The group is responsible for research andteaching in the area of animal breeding and genetics(www.zod.wau.nl/abg). The group closely collaborates with scientistsworking around the world.
