The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science providesundergraduate and
M.Sc. programs in Industrial and Applied Mathematics and in Computer Science.The Department has research collaborations with other Departments at theTechnische Universiteit Eindhoven as well as with a large number of otheruniversities and companies, both at home and abroad. The Department hasapproximately 300 employees and more than 700 students.

Project description: The I-Share project is a part of the Freebandcommunication program. It involves several Dutch universities and companies.The I-Share project carries out research on the key issues that emerge whennetworked resource/cost-constrained devices are the sharing of content,computation, bandwidth and profile information. The sharing enables potentialfor content usage, it improves safety and reliability and efficiency andgenerally supports the ambient access to electronic information throughpersonal devices like hand-held terminals or CE terminals.

Tasks

Within the project the candidate shouldwork in the areas of secure and efficient distribution and compression ofaudio-video content and on sharing architectures. His specific task will beworking on the service model and the transport related issues.In addition,thecandidate must to cooperate with other parties working in the same project andcoordinate the development of a demonstrator.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who meetsthe following requirements: Required education/skills: University Graduate.Your profile: A PhD in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. Knowledge incomputer networks and protocols and practical experience in working with those.Knowledge in peer-to-peer networks. Good programming skills. Strong motivationto succeed in scientific research. Independent and well-structured workingstyle.  Well-developed social skills directed to work in a team. Strongtendency towards cooperation. Fluency in English language.

Appointment and Salary

You will be employed full-time for a periodof two years. The salary will be dependent on the qualifications and expertiseand will be at least € 2733, based on the CollectiveEmployment Agreement Dutch Universities.
