POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATES (3 POSTS) (Refs â€" EPS/124/05; EPS/125/05 & EPS/126/05)
Requiredto work as part of a large consortium that is developing a massivelyparallel near-field photolithography system, the “Snomipedeâ€ÂÂ. Theconsortium includes chemists, physicists, molecular and cell biologistsand engineers from the Universities of Sheffield, Glasgow, Manchesterand Nottingham covering the range of expertise required to deliver theSnomipede. All appointments will be for two years in the firstinstance, although they may be renewable for a further year.
Post 1 (with Professor M.L. Turner) (Ref - EPS/124/05)
Atalented synthetic chemist is required to develop new materials forphotochemical processing of organic semiconductors, dielectrics andcontacts at the nanoscale. This post will be based in the OrganicMaterials Innovation Centre of the School of Chemistry.
Post 2 (with Dr J. Micklefield) (Ref - EPS/125/05)
Atalented synthetic organic chemist is required to develop newphotolabile protecting groups which will enable the solid phasesynthesis of nanostructured arrays of biomolecules and analogues(including oligonucleotides and peptides). This post will be based inthe Manchester Interdiscplinary Biocentre (MIB) and the School ofChemistry.
Post 3 (with Professor N.J. Goddard) (Ref - EPS/126/05)
Recently it has been demonstrated that near-field nanolithography can be conducted in a fluid medium. A position is available from 1 October to work on the development of fluidic devices for integration with near-field lithography systems to facilitate reactive nanolithography.
