Postdoctoral Position in Structural Biology, University College London
An MRC-funded 3-year POSTDOCTORAL position is availableIMMEDIATELY to study a panel of pathogen-derivedperoxidases from Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Trypanosomacruzi with potential therapeutic targeting. Using anintegrated approach that combines NMR spectroscopy, X-raycrystallography, site-directed mutagenesis andbioinformatics we aim to relate the structure and functionof these enzymes and to provide the basis for thedevelopment of peroxidase-specific and pathogen-selectiveinhibitors.
We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivatedpost-doctoral research assistant with previous training inX-ray crystallography or NMR methods and structuralbiology. The PDRA will have to be able to handle multipleaspects of the structure characterisation and to havesignificant understanding of enzymology and thus it will beexpected that the candidate will have prior post-doctoralexperience in a relevant research field. The project willalso involve generation of various protein expressionconstructs and routine protein purification and this workwill be carried out in collaboration with a current PhDstudent.
The starting salary will start at Point 8 on the RAIAscale (£23,643 plus £2,330 London Allowance).
