Subject: Postdoctoral Position at the University of Pennsylvania
A postdoctoral position is available on fast algorithms for inversescattering problems in acoustic and electromagnetic wave propagationwith applications in subsurface surveying. The research focus will bethe tailoring of Lagrange-Newton-Krylov and Gauss-Newton-Krylov methodsto problems governed time- and frequency-domain hyperbolic PDEs.
The postdoctoral researcher will have excellent collaborativeopportunities with a diverse group of researchers from computationalmechanics and computer vision at Penn. The position is open for aninitial duration of 12 months, starting July 2005, and it will berenewable pending available funding.
The ideal candidate would have a strong background in appliedmathematics and computer science. In particular, expertise on numericalalgorithms for elliptic and hyperbolic partial differential equationsis highly desirable. Programming skills in C/C++ are necessary.
