POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (REF - MHS/196/05)
Youwill be required to study the relationship between fibulin-5 and theeye disease age related macular degeneration. The project, funded bythe Wellcome Trust, is to investigate the molecular mechanisms andconsequences of missense mutations in fibulin-5 associated with thisvery common cause of blindness in the elderly. The work will involveexpressing mutant proteins and investigating secretion, proteininteractions, cell adhesion, protein folding etc.
Youwill have a degree in Biological Sciences, together with a PhD inMolecular Biology or Molecular Genetics. In addition, you will havegood organisational and communication skills, including writtencommunication skills evidenced by presentations at scientific meetingsand publications in peer-reviewed journals. Experience of working withextracellular matrix proteins would be an advantage.
Funding is available for three years.
Salary:
range £21,640 - £29,128 p.a.
