Post-doc position in molecular biology/biochemistry

The Dept. of Biochemistry is part ofthe Nijmegen Center for Molecular Life Sciences, and located in the newresearch facility of the University of Nijmegen.

Post-doc position (3 year period): "Heparan sulfate saccharide sequences in (patho)biology: unravelling a third level of bioinformation"

Thisproject is part of a Human Frontier Science Program in which two othergroups, one in the UK and one in the USA, are also involved. Thegeneral aim of the project is to elucidate specific monosaccharidesequences within long, unbranched, polysaccharides (the heparansulfates), and to establish their cell biological function. The projectis at the front of glycomic research, including the construction oflarge saccharide libraries and the development of tools to analysestructure-function relationships. Prime focus of the Dept. ofBiochemistry is the selection and characterisation of phagedisplay-derived recombinant antibodies to specific saccharide domainsand the elucidation of the relevance of these domains (especially intumorigenesis).

We look for an enthusiasticscientist with a strong background in molecular biology/biochemistry.Additional experience with cell culture and immunohistochemistry isrecommendatory.
