A postdoctoral position is available at the Department of Informatics at theUniversity of Bergen. It is financed by the Research Council of Norway (NFR)supported project Scientific computing with Algebraic and GenerativeAbstractions for geophysical problems (SAGA-GEO, http://www.ii.uib.no/saga/).

The SAGA-GEO project is a crossover from theoretical computer science intoscientific computing. It explores theoretically founded, new and experimentaltechniques in software development applied to the solving of problems incomputational geophysics. Among techniques employed are formal, algebraicsoftware methods (algebraic specifications), program transformation,coordinate-free numerics, and parallel programming for high performancecomputing.

We are looking for excellent candidates with a background in numericalanalysis (partial differential equations) and scientific computing. Aninterest in software engineering will be appreciated.
