New Zealand: Postdoctoral Fellowship in Electrophysiology at University of Otago
A 3 year post-doctoral position is now available for an electrophysiologist to study the neurons and circuits of the olfactory system, using patch-clamp recordings in slices of the olfactory bulb of the mouse brain. We are interested in sensory processing, neuron membrane properties and pharmacology. We focus on the circuits mediating lateral inhibition, ion channels influencing neuronal behaviour, and the actions of psychotherapeutic drugs.
For more information about our research, please see Aungst JL, Heyward PM, Puche AC, et al (2003). Center-surround inhibition among olfactory glomeruli. Nature 426:623-6229.
Please contact Dr Phil Heyward if you are interested in this position, or would like more information.
