Luxembourg: Postdoctoral Fellow in System Neuroscience, Pain Research
Postdoctoral Fellow in System Neuroscience, Pain Research, Luxembourg
The laboratory of psychobiology and neurophysiology of the University of Luxembourg is looking for
1 postdoctoral researcher in systems neuroscience (m/f) to be funded by the Fonds National de la Recherche
Research topic:
Influence of stress and altered HPA-axis reactivity on nociceptive processing and pain
The lab is interested in the impact of chronic stress or altered stress hormone reactivity on pain enhancement and chronification (psychoneuroimmunological approach). We perform psychophysical and psychophysiological studies in humans. In addition, complementary neurobiological experiments are conducted in rats. In the context of the proposed position, the effects of altered HPA-axis reactivity or of intermittent exposure to stress on experimentally induced inflammatory and neuropathic pain will be measured at the electrophysiological level (single unit activity in vivo, anesthetized animals. Immunocytochemical and behavioural studies will also be performed.
Requirements:
- a PhD or equivalent degree in biology/systems neuroscience
- experience in electrophysiology in vivo
- good knowledge of behavioural and immunocytochemical techniques would constitute an advantage
- commitment and creativity
- fluency in English, good writing skills
