Israel: Postdoctoral Fellowship in Molecular and Cellular Signaling

We are seeking highly motivated, committed individuals to join a leading research group at the Weizmann Institute in Israel studying signaling for receptor-induced apoptosis and activation of transcription factors of the NF-kappa B family.

Biological questions and assays are focused on signaling mechanisms that are activated by receptors of the TNF/NGF family.

The fellow will apply state-of-the-art molecular and genomic tools to pursue projects along the following lines:

  • Molecular dissection of the signaling and apoptotic events and cloning of the genes involved by genetic and proteomic approaches.
  • Functional evaluation on animal models by conditional targeted disruption of genes and BAC transgenesis.

The successful candidate(s) will have a recent (no more then three y/o) PhD, be skilled in all aspects of molecular and cell biology, with thorough theoretical background and strong desire to understand basic science and to perform mechanistic studies. Extensive first-hand experience in biochemistry and/or cell biology of mammalian signal transduction, which must be demonstrated by at least one first-author paper in high-impact (ISI impact factor above five) international journal(s) published during doctorate studies, is imperative. Experience with mouse models will be beneficial. Fair English, both spoken and written, excellent communication skills, ability to establish new techniques and perform independently, as well as a part of a multi-national team, are essential.

Interested applicants should mail their curriculum vitae, their expertise, short statement of intent and names and addresses of three references to: Prof. David Wallach at the Dept. of Biological Chemistry, The Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot 76100, ISRAEL.
