The successful candidate will contribute to research on programming models and middleware for applications composed of sensor-rich, autonomous, mobile software components in application areas ranging from intelligent transportation systems to independent living. The successful candidate is expected to provide scientific leadership in defining and developing this research programme. The position is funded under a grant from Science Foundation Ireland until 2007.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related area or be close to completing one. Candidates with expertise in any of the following areas are particularly welcome:
-Sentient/ubiquitous/pervasive computing
-Mobile computing
-Distributed real-time systems

This post is tenable immediately for an initial period of one year at a salary of EUR37,000 (approx) to accord with the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
