Special scholarships, research grants and research stays for applicants from India, Indonesia, Thailand, and Sri Lanka

In addition to DAAD regular scholarship programmes a number of special scholarships, research grants and research stays are being offered to applicants from the following countries: India, Indonesia, Thailand and Sri Lanka
Objective:
In view of earthquakes, floods, civil conflicts, health risks etc. international awareness of disaster preparedness is growing. In order to avoid catastrophes and conflicts and to mitigate their effects on the population, the environment and the economies it is necessary to qualify experts in many fields. The DAAD wants to contribute to the international efforts of disaster prevention and is offering German Foreign Office funded special scholarships and research grants in the following areas:Research Fields, Study Areas:
Geology, Geoinformatics, Disaster Preparedness and Prevention: Social Sciences, Public Sector Management, Medicine: Public Health, Epidemiology, Trauma Psychology, Regional Planning, Resources Management, and Ecology, Civil Engineering, Peace and Conflict Studies
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must specify their current area of research topic / study course with placement at a German university / research institute. Candidates must be employed in research institutions, universities or public sector in their countries with excellent academic record and recommendations.
Applications must have been received by the German Embassies in Sri Lanka and Thailand, from the DAAD regional offices in New Delhi and Djakarta by 30th November 2005 at the latest. Application forms are either available from the representations mentioned above or from the Internet (www.daad.de).
