Postdoc Position at the Simulation and Optimization Group of the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR), University of Heidelberg, Germany

The “Simulation and Optimization Group”, headed by Prof. Dr. Hans Georg Bock, is searching for a Postdoc with a strong background in numerical differential equations, numerical optimization or numerical optimal control. The research focus will be adjusted according to the interests of the successful candidate.

The candidate will have the possibility to establish an own junior group. Cooperations with other groups at IWR, e.g., Numerical Methods, Discrete and Combinatorial Optimization, Modeling and Simulation of Reactive Flows, and within third-party funded projects, in particular in chemical engineering and systems biology are expected.

A doctorate in mathematics or a closely related field is required. The initial contract is for one year, a prolongation is possible depending on achievements. Salary is according to E13 (T-VL).
The position includes teaching obligations of 4 hours per week. Instruction language is German.

IWR is located on the campus “Im Neuenheimer Feld” of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universitaet in Heidelberg, a romantic town of about 140.000 inhabitants on the Neckar river, about 80 km south of Frankfurt. Further information is available under:
