France: Postdoctoral Position in Microscopic Image Processing and Analysis, Université de Caen Basse-Normandie
Post-doctoral position in Microscopic Image processing and analysis Université de Caen Basse-Normandie, France (http://www.unicaen.fr)
STARTING DATE : September 2009
DURATION : 12 months
SCIENTIFIC CONTEXT : This post-doctoral position is offered in context of the FOGRIMMI project, http://www.stlo.unicaen.fr/fogrimmi. The FOGRIMMI project is a project funded by the French National Research Agency under the Mass Data and Knowledge program. The FOGRIMMI project focuses on research in the area of Image processing and analysis of whole slide images of microscopic samples. Whole slide images enable to dispose of a complete multi-resolution view of microscopic samples. The information contained in such images is huge and efficient processing methods are needed for automatic and interactive extraction algorithms. The particular focus of this position is on the segmentation of cellular samples and on the recognition of cells. The researcher is expected to be both practical and scientifically minded, and willing to publish results at conferences and in journals. Creative contributions and modifications to the problem formulation are highly encouraged.
ENVIRONMENT : The Image Team of the GREYC laboratory (http://www.greyc.ensicaen.fr/EquipeImage) has a long history in the area of Image Processing for Computer Aided Diagnosis. The GREYC-Image team has a broad range of competences, e.g. in variational and morphological models, geometrical and topological modeling, harmonic analysis, and machine learning. The team of researchers at GREYC-Image has a tradition of tight cooperation, with a particularly open climate for discussions, mutual support, and exchange of code and expertise.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS : Experience with one or more of: Image Processing, Graph Theory, Computer Vision, Machine Learning. Experience of programming (C++).
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: 5 years higher education (university’s degree or engineering equivalence). A Ph.D. in the field of image processing, computer vision.
CONTACTS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION : Applicants should send a CV including a list of publications, a statement of research interests, and names and contact information of 2 referees electronically to Olivier Lezoray: olivier.lezoray[ at ]unicaen.fr, http://www.info.unicaen.fr/~lezoray, until July 15, 2009. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
